Founded in 1912, Sertoma is dedicated to SERvice TO MAnkind.
As members of the third oldest service organization in the United States, Sertomans are bound together through a common thread of camaraderie and a sense of contributing to something much larger than oneself.
Sertoma’s primary focus is on assisting the more than 50 million people with hearing health issues and educating the public on the issues surrounding hearing health. As the parent organization, Sertoma helps clubs increase the effectiveness of their community service activities. The parent offers clubs structured programs, but with the autonomy, as well as the support, to “do their own thing.”
Sertoma operates through a well-integrated Division structure. Sertoma clubs in the United States and Canada are organized into Districts, supported by District Governors who are elected by the clubs of each District. Districts are assigned to a Region. The clubs of a Region elect one Director from their Region to serve on the Board of Directors. Sertoma in Mexico is organized as Sertoma National, with its own governing structure, and has an ex-officio seat on the International Board.
The Mat-Su Sertoma Club is currently the only Sertoma Club located in Alaska.
